Angola : GDP growth hits 4.4% in 2024 driven by natural resources

Angola’s economy surged by 4.4% in 2024, its highest growth since 2014, driven by oil, diamonds and a rebound in commerce and fishing, according to World Bank Group (WBG) report published on July 25, 2025. Despite this recovery, deep-rooted structural challenges persist. The report urges financial sector reforms to foster inclusive growth, especially outside Luanda. Key priorities include expanding digital payments, supporting MSMEs, and improving regulatory frameworks to boost resilience, diversify the economy, and enhance financial access across the country.
