On July 24, 2025, at the 6th Italy‑Algeria Business Forum in Rome, Sparkle (Telecom Italia) and Algérie Télécom signed a MoU to construct a new undersea cable directly linking Italy and Algeria. The initiative promises a high-capacity, ultra-low latency route with full redundancy. It also includes cloud and cybersecurity services, data center support, technical training, and a dedicated European PoP for Algérie Télécom.
