On 1 September 2025, Algeria launched a green hydrogen engine project to convert diesel buses, cut carbon emissions, and save 31% of national energy production. Supervised by Minister Kamel Baddari, the initiative involves the Ministry of Defense, the Directorate of Military Industries, the National School of Renewable Energies, and the National Industrial Vehicle Company.
