On May 16, 2025, Algeria officially became a member of the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB). NDB President Dilma Rousseff welcomed the move, highlighting Algeria’s growing global economic influence.
Since 2015, the Shanghai-based NDB has funded over 120 projects worth $40 billion, focusing on energy, water, transport, and digital infrastructure across emerging economies.
