Algeria: agreement with Italy to increase gas exports following Meloni visit

Following the official visit of Giorgia Meloni to Algiers, Algeria and Italy announced stronger energy cooperation to boost gas supplies to Europe. Algeria, through Sonatrach, is already a key supplier via the TransMed pipeline. According to Italy’s Ministry of Energy, Algeria remains a strategic gas partner. The agreement aligns with Europe’s strategy to diversify energy sources since 2022.
