Algeria : 1,480 MW of solar plants expected in 2026 

Algeria plans to commission nine photovoltaic solar power plants totaling 1,480 MW by summer 2026, as part of its national energy transition strategy. Among them, two 200 MW facilities at El Ghrous (Biskra) and Tendla (El M’Ghair) are expected to start operations by late January 2026, according to Khalil Hedna, spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies.

These projects are part of the first phase targeting 3,200 MW of renewable capacity, contributing to a broader goal of reaching 15,000 MW by 2030‑35.
