Agriculture : GAFSP mobilizes $14 million for private agricultural financing

On October 21, 2025, the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) announced a first allocation of $14 million for its BIFT track, hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB). This funding aims to unlock $200 million in private investment to support smallholder farmers and agro-industrial businesses in Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, and Zambia. The mechanism will provide bank guarantees to ease access to credit and agricultural inputs, strengthening food security and climate resilience.
