African Union launches coordination center to accelerate infrastructure projects

On October 20, 2025, the African Union (AU) launched a new coordination center to oversee about 130 transnational projects in energy, transport, digital, and water sectors, involving investments worth several billion dollars. The initiative aims to boost economic growth, create up to 74 million jobs, and generate $500 billion in additional economic value. Supported by the AU Commission for Infrastructure, Energy and ICT, the center will improve project coordination, engage the private sector, and strengthen local skills to ensure sustainable and impactful infrastructure development across the continent.
