African Union : a new direction

During the 38th African Union Summit (February 15-16, 2025), alongside Mahmoud Ali Youssouf (Djibouti), elected Chairperson of the AU Commission, other elections took place. Youssouf will be deputized by Selma Malika Haddadi (Algeria), elected as Deputy Chairperson. Several commissioners were also elected, including Bankole Adeoye (Nigeria) for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security, Moses Vilakati (Eswatini) for Agriculture and Blue Economy, Lerato Mataboge (South Africa) for Infrastructure and Energy, and Amma Twum-Amoah (Ghana) for Health and Social Development.
The elections for the Trade and Education Commissioners were postponed.
