African growth : 3.5% in 2024 according to UN forecasts

In Africa, economic growth is expected to remain « modest », under the impact of a slowing global economy, tighter monetary and fiscal conditions and worsening debt sustainability, reaching 3.5% in 2024, a slight improvement on the 3.3% recorded in 2023.
According to forecasts in the report on « The World Economic Situation and Prospects 2024″, published by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, geopolitical instability will continue to have a negative impact on several African sub-regions, notably the Sahel and North Africa.
In addition, many African economies faced significant inflationary pressures in 2023, largely due to high fuel and food prices.
