African Book Fair in Paris 2026 : an edition dedicated to african youth
Scheduled from March 20 to 22, 2026, the 5th edition of the African Book Fair in Paris was already set to be a highlight of the European literary scene, showcasing Benin (guest of honor) and Angola (special guest), around the theme “African Youth.”

The international scope of the fair is well established: each year, it brings together nearly 400 authors and 150 publishers from Africa, Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean, as well as around 10,000 visitors according to previous editions. Designed as a showcase for the diversity of African and Afro-descendant literatures, SALAP offers around forty conferences and debates on topics ranging from history to ecology, as well as economics and philosophy.
An essential platform to think about the world through African and Afro-descendant voices
For its organizers, this fair is “an essential platform to think about the world through African and Afro-descendant voices,” bringing together authors, publishers, booksellers, and academics for open and free exchanges.
This year, the event particularly highlights African youth, a theme made even more relevant by a UN report noting that Africa will have over 400 million young people aged 15 to 24 by 2030, making the continent the youngest in the world.
Free and open to all, the fair represents a unique opportunity to promote African literary creation in an international context, but the current uncertainty forces organizers to redouble their efforts to secure a venue worthy of its ambition.
