On May 28, 2025, the African Development Bank revised its forecast, projecting 3.9% economic growth for Africa in 2025, up from 3.3% in 2024. The figure falls short of the earlier 4.1% projection due to new U.S. tariffs. The AfDB, Africa’s main lender with $318B in capital, also adjusted its 2026 forecast to 4.0%. Growth is expected to be driven by 21 economies above 5%, including Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Senegal.
