AfCFTA : Egypt assumes chair of Council of Ministers

On April 28, 2025, Egypt officially took over from Tanzania as chair of the Council of Ministers of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) during its 16th meeting in Kinshasa (DR Congo). This leadership change highlights Egypt’s strategic role in advancing regional economic integration. The session featured Egyptian representative Mohamed al-Gosqy and Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi. Over $3 trillion in intra-African trade opportunities are at stake.
