Rwanda : African Development Bank backs study for Kigali urban cable car

The AfDB has approved a $500,000 grant to fund the feasibility study for Kigali’s 5.5 km urban cable car project, led by Ropeways Transit Rwanda. Valued at $100M, this first-of-its-kind transport system in sub-Saharan Africa aims to ease traffic, cut emissions, and connect underserved areas. The public-private initiative is expected to launch operations by 2028.
