Uganda : historic first powdered milk export to Algeria worth $500 million

On June 3, 2025, Uganda achieved a historic milestone by exporting its first shipment of powdered milk to Algeria, valued at $500 million. This operation, conducted by Pearl Dairy Farms, Brookside Uganda, and Amos Dairies Uganda, marks a significant boost in intra-African trade. Algeria, which depends on imports for 60% of its powdered milk needs, is diversifying its suppliers while investing in ambitious local projects, such as the $3.5 billion Baladna farm in Adrar.
