On May 9, 2025, Egypt finalized a $297M agreement with NERIC to manufacture 21 metro trains for Alexandria’s electric line. The contract with the National Authority for Tunnels includes 189 railcars, spare parts, and 10 years of maintenance. The deal boosts local industry and supports Egypt’s green transport goals.
