The BRICS has expanded with nine new partner nations joining on January 1, 2025. Uganda is the only African country among them, alongside Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. Partner status serves as a pathway to full membership, with Uganda aiming to leverage deeper economic ties with leading emerging markets.
