Ethiopia : $500 million investment to combat land degradation
The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) will support Ethiopia with a $500 million initiative aimed at restoring degraded land, protecting forests, and improving food security. A $37 million investment from CIF’s Nature, People, and Climate program will leverage $492 million in co-financing from the World Bank and African Development Bank. The funding will focus on restoring over 320,000 hectares in regions like Amhara, Oromia, and South Ethiopia, benefiting farmers and pastoralists.
