Kenya : Afreximbank signs deal to fund pharmaceutical plant

Afreximbank has signed a deal with Med Aditus Pharmaceutical Kenya Limited to finance the preparation of a pharmaceutical plant in Kisumu, Kenya. The facility, estimated at $40 million, will produce up to 2 billion tablets and capsules annually. It will focus on non-communicable diseases like cardiovascular issues, diabetes, and cancer, as well as infectious diseases like HIV and malaria. The plant, designed to meet current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), will utilize blockchain for quality control. The project is strategically located to facilitate trade across East Africa and within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
