Botswana’s President, Mokgweetsi Masisi, unveiled the world’s second-largest rough diamond, a 2,492-carat stone, discovered at the Karowe mine by the Canadian company Lucara Diamond. This discovery highlights the significance of mining to Botswana’s economy, despite the current challenges in the diamond market. Thanks to the innovative Mega Diamond Recovery technology, the gem was extracted without damage, further solidifying Botswana’s position on the global stage.
