Senegal : meeting Between Emmanuel Macron and Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye on the Sidelines of the Vaccine Innovation Forum

French President Emmanuel Macron met with Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar FAYE, President of the Republic of Senegal, on the sidelines of the Global Forum for Vaccine Innovation and Sovereignty on June 20, 2024, in Paris.

During this first meeting, the two heads of state expressed their shared desire to invigorate the partnership between Senegal and France, based on mutual respect and a balanced partnership that serves the reciprocal interests of both peoples, united by shared democratic values, human connections, and a friendly relationship.

They discussed the common challenges to be addressed to continue and strengthen cooperation in key sectors for Senegal’s sovereignty. The presidents agreed to reinforce major projects in various areas, including energy transition, health, vocational training, local vaccine production, and agriculture.

The two presidents welcomed their joint commitment to enhancing the quality of the partnership between France and Senegal, according to a statement from the Élysée.
