Health : World Bank approves $500 million Health Security Program for West and Central Africa
On December 19, the World Bank approved the Health Security Program for West and Central Africa, aimed at strengthening health security in the sub-region.
In its first phase, this $500 million multi-phase IDA*-financed operation will involve Cape Verde, Guinea, Liberia and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to increase collaboration and improve the capacity of health systems to prevent, detect and respond to health emergencies in the region.
The program will also mobilize funds from other partners, namely the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children and Adolescents and the Pandemic Fund.
