Morocco : UM6P Ventures invests in startup Chari

UM6P Ventures, the investment arm of Université Mohammed VI Polytechnique (UM6P), has announced its investment in Chari, a Moroccan startup and leader in B2B e-commerce for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) in Morocco and French-speaking Africa, according to a press release.

This partnership aims to develop a framework conducive to financial inclusion, and to foster sustainable growth and the harmonious development of entrepreneurial ecosystems, it says.

Founded by Ismael Belkhayat and Sophia Alj in 2018, two former consultants at BCG and McKinsey, Chari is a company that digitalizes the entire retail value chain. The startup has developed a B2B e-commerce application that operates in Morocco, Tunisia, and Côte d’Ivoire, connecting traditional retailers with fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) suppliers. It offers a wide selection of products, competitive prices, and a fast delivery service.
