Orange export : Egypt first supplier to the European Union
Egypt supplants South Africa and becomes the leading African supplier of oranges to the EU in 2022/2023. According to the latest statistics on citrus purchases from the community market, the country of the pharaohs sent 458,408 tonnes of the fruit to the EU, more than double the shipments of the previous year. This record volume represents more than 45% of the region’s total imports and surpasses that of South Africa (431,565 tonnes), which for 10 years has been in first place in supplying the European market.
