Africa-Japan : the next TICAD will be held in Yokohama in 2025

The Japanese city of Yokohama will host the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in 2025.

The choice of this city was announced following the meeting of the Japanese Council of Ministers, and the exact date of the conference will be defined at a later date, adds the same source. « Since the launch of the first TICAD in 1993, Japan has been working to support development led by Africa itself, » says the embassy, recalling, that at TICAD 8, held on August 27 and 28, 2022, in Tunis, Japan emphasized « investment in people » and « quality of growth » , as a « partner in joint growth » with Africa, a continent that will need to experience long-term growth. » In this spirit, cooperation with African countries is indispensable for peace, stability and prosperity, not only for Japan, but also for the region and the international community », reads the same statement. It goes on to emphasize that « Japan looks forward to deepening Japan-Africa relations while further promoting the TICAD process in the future. »
