Ethiopia : $600 million from Chinese companies for industrial park

Sinoma International Engineering (SIE) and the National West International Holding Building Materials Holding Company, a Sino-Ethiopian company, are to invest $600 million to build a Melka-Jebdu industrial park, about 450 km east of Addis Ababa. This infrastructure will produce 6,000 tonnes of cement, 1,000 tonnes of lime per day and 700,000 tonnes of metals per year.

In a country where the construction sector is booming, this project will help combat the shortage of cement and other construction materials.

Furthermore, the parties agree that the proximity of the industrial park to Djibouti’s ports will facilitate the export of part of the production of the various factories.
