Mining: In less than two months, DRC has exported more artisanal gold than it did in two years
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) exported 207 kg of artisanal gold in Kivu between mid-January and 21 February 2023, thanks to Primera Gold, a company set up in partnership with the United Arab Emirates, Congolese Finance Minister Nicolas Kazadi recently tweeted.
This is far more than the 135.93 kg and 42.25 kg of gold officially exported by artisanal miners across the country in 2021 and 2022 respectively, according to statistics from the Ministry of Mines.
