Tunisia 14 banking services declared free
The Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) has announced that it has fixed 14 free banking services for holders of bank accounts in the country, according to information relayed by Financial Afrik. This involves opening an account, issuing a checkbook, issuing a savings book, paying and withdrawing in cash, collecting checks, transferring account to account in the same agency , account consultation, account statement, monthly account statement, withdrawal of DAB-GAB bank notes from the bearer’s bank, payment by bank card, bill payment via the internet, change of address and account closure. This measure aims to boost banking activity in a country where the financial system includes 23 resident banks, 7 offshore banks and 13 financial institutions, among others. It is announced a few days after the publication of a report on banking supervision which indicates that the number of bank accounts increased by 6.3% per year in 2013 to reach 9.4 million accounts at the end of 2018, of which 60% in the form of savings accounts.
