Rwanda’s record average growth of 8% in 20 years

Rwanda has posted an 8% average growth rate over the past two decades (2000-2018), according to figures from the Ministry of Finance. During the period, the country’s budget increased 26-fold, from 73 billion to 1970 billion Rwandan francs ($ 2.08 billion), while the poverty line fell significantly from 60 to 38%. Rwanda’s growth is driven by the private sector, which contributes 85%, followed by agriculture, industry and services. The country is now targeting 10% growth.
