Energy: EACOP oil pipeline reaches 82% completion with commissioning targeted for 2026

EACOP reaches 82% completion, aiming for first oil in 2026 as Uganda and Tanzania advance Africa’s largest crude oil pipeline project.

 The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is 82 percent complete as of April 2026, according to EACOP Company and Upstream Online. The 1,443 km pipeline is designed to transport about 216,000 barrels per day from Uganda to Tanzania, based on official project data. Total investment is estimated at 5.6 billion USD according to the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis, reflecting a 55 percent cost increase. First oil is expected in 2026 pending final commissioning tests.
