Senegal: launch in Dakar of African Regional Resilience Initiative on Climate Education
The Africa Regional Resilience Initiative on Climate Education was officially launched on March 28, 2026, in Dakar, according to an official announcement by the Senegalese government. Supported by regional and international actors including the Office for Climate Education (OCE) as part of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals and resilience strategies, the initiative aims to structurally integrate climate change education into African educational systems. It is designed to strengthen the capacity of youth, teachers and communities to anticipate and adapt to the effects of climate change, already intensifying in the Sahel region according to scientific assessments associated with global climate forums such as COP 28. This effort aligns with international commitments underscoring the role of education in building climate resilience across the continent.
