Mauritania: African Development Bank steps up support for private sector and investment

On March 25, 2026, in Nouakchott, the Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement announced stronger support for Mauritania’s private sector during a workshop with the Agence de promotion des investissements en Mauritanie. The bank aims to scale financing through local banks and back job-creating projects. It is already supporting key infrastructure such as the Rosso bridge and the Mauritania–Mali power interconnection. According to AfDB, private sector growth hinges on business climate reforms, infrastructure and capacity building.
