Burkina Faso reaffirmed on March 25, 2026, in Ouagadougou its ambition to locally produce essential medicines during the National Health Financing Forum (FONAFIS). Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo emphasized health sovereignty. According to the Ministry of Economy, 12% of the national budget is allocated to health. The state also acquired PROPHARM SA in 2025 to boost domestic production. Over 400 participants, including 15 African health ministers, attended the forum.
