Ghana : diplomatic breakthrough with Kyrgyzstan and cooperation agreements

Ghana and Kyrgyzstan initiated formal diplomatic engagement in 2026 in Bishkek, signing two agreements including visa waivers for diplomatic passports. According to both foreign ministries, a framework for regular political consultations has been established. Talks focus on gold sector cooperation, with Ghana Africa’s top producer (USGS) and Kyrgyzstan hosting the Kumtor mine, a key economic asset.
