Mauritania : $1 billion trade-finance framework signed with ITFC to support economic development (2026-2030)

On March 10, 2026, Mauritania and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), part of the Islamic Development Bank Group, signed in Jeddah a $1 billion framework agreement covering 2026-2030 aimed at strengthening trade and economic development. The deal was signed by Mauritanian Minister of Economic Affairs and Development Abdallah Ould Souleymane Ould Cheikh‑Sidia and ITFC CEO Adeeb Yousuf Al Aama. According to ITFC, the program will mobilize financing and technical assistance for energy imports, local banks, SMEs and agricultural productivity. Since 2008, ITFC approvals for Mauritania have exceeded $1.2 billion.
