On March 5, 2026, the Ministry of Finance Ghana announced that Ghana signed a bilateral debt restructuring agreement with Belgium as part of its external debt restructuring program initiated following the 2022–2023 financial crisis that led to partial default. The deal, concluded under the Official Creditor Committee framework, is the eighth bilateral agreement reached with creditor countries to stabilize public finances and restore investor confidence.
