Tunisia : World Bank provides additional $50 million to strengthen disaster resilience

Tunisia received an additional 50 million USD in financing from the World Bank on March 4 2026 to strengthen its disaster resilience under the Tunisia Integrated Disaster Resilience Program (ResCat), bringing the total program envelope to 175 million USD. This financing, part of a partnership with the Agence française de développement, focuses on expanding urban flood protection in high‑risk areas such as Western Tunis, Gabès and Djerba, benefiting over 660 000 people. The ResCat program has already helped protect about 170 000 people and supported early warning systems in several Tunisian cities.
