On March 3, 2026, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially launched Tamini General Insurance, the first Sharia‑compliant insurance company in Kampala. Licensed by the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda in November 2025, Tamini is part of Salaam Group, which also includes Salaam Bank Uganda, the first Islamic bank in the country. At the launch during an Iftar dinner, the President urged a focus on productive investments and financial inclusion, noting that Takaful insurance offers ethical and accessible coverage to underserved populations in a growing market of over 45 million people.
