Rwanda : Cabinet approves virtual assets draft law
On 4 March 2026, the Rwandan Cabinet, chaired by Paul Kagame, approved a draft law regulating virtual asset business, a key step toward a safe and transparent legal framework. Virtual assets are not legal tender and cannot be used for direct payments without the National Bank of Rwanda’s authorization. The Capital Market Authority will oversee licensing and supervision.
