Guinea : population officially estimated at 17.52 million inhabitants

Preliminary results of the 4th General Population and Housing Census (RGPH-4), released on 25 February 2026 by the Institut national de la statistique and presented in Conakry by Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah, show that the resident population of Guinea stands at 17,521,167 people. These figures, excluding Guineans living abroad, represent significant growth compared with the 2014 census, which counted about 10.5 million inhabitants. The demographic profile is notably young (79 % under 35), with an average density of 71 people/km² and a slight female majority (51.8 %). These official statistics will inform public policy and social service planning.
