Ghana: shea resource hub inaugurated in Upper West to boost regional development

Ghana has inaugurated a shea resource hub in Wa, in the Upper West Region, as part of a broader strategy to anchor national development in regional value chains. Speaking at the launch, President John Dramani Mahama said the project reflects a deliberate policy choice to leverage local resources and ensure inclusive growth. Designed as a sustainable agro-industrial ecosystem, the hub will host modern shea processing facilities, quality-control laboratories, training centers, logistics services and export facilitation. The initiative aims to strengthen the shea value chain, empower women producers and support youth employment across northern Ghana.
