Aviation : African Development Bank and Air Côte d’Ivoire sign LOI to boost sector transformation
On 23 January 2026 in Abidjan, the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Air Côte d’Ivoire signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to strengthen aviation financing, technical skills development and sustainability initiatives across Africa — a key early milestone under the Integrated Aviation Transformation Program (IATP).
Under the agreement, both parties will explore financing solutions for affordable aircraft acquisition, expand aviation technical training for pilots and mechanics, and assess opportunities related to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The cooperation aligns with the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, aiming to make aviation a driver of connectivity, economic integration and competitiveness across the continent.
