Mali : mining renegotiation yields exceptional $1.35 billion recovery

Mali reports an exceptional recovery of about $1.35 billion following the renegotiation of its mining agreements, according to the final report submitted to the Transition authorities. Audited firms now comply with the 2023 Mining Code, potentially adding $1.04 billion per year to state revenues. Mali also settled its dispute with Barrick Gold over Loulo-Gounkoto, with no extra payment beyond the already-transferred $85 million.
