Ghana : Nationwide Mining audit launched to recover lost revenues and boost transparency

Africa’s top gold producer, Ghana, has begun a sweeping nationwide mining audit starting November 1, 2025 — its most extensive in a decade. Led by the Minerals Commission, the review targets major firms including Newmont, AngloGold Ashanti, Gold Fields, Perseus, Asante Gold, and Zijin. It will assess production, tax compliance, and environmental practices to reclaim lost revenues and strengthen sector governance vital to the nation’s recovery.
