On September 24, 2025, at the Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Forum in New York, 17 African nations officially adopted their national energy compacts under Mission 300, a joint World Bank and AfDB initiative to connect 300 million people to electricity by 2030. The compacts focus on reforms, infrastructure, and private investment to speed up electrification. According to the AfDB, more than 30 million people have already gained access to power.
