New York-based impact investor Acumen has secured $246.5M for its Hardest-to-Reach (H2R) blended finance initiative, which brings electricity to underserved communities in sub-Saharan Africa. Launched at COP28 in Dubai, the program targets 17 countries and 70 million people, including 50 million without power. Partners include the Green Climate Fund, IFC, BII, and Shinhan Bank. H2R supports off-grid solar solutions and last-mile distribution models to expand energy access rapidly.
