Zimbabwe : official launch of UN Security Council bid

Zimbabwe officially launched its campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027–2028, announced by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on September 15, 2025. Backed by Russia, India, Cuba, SADC, and the African Union, the bid aims to strengthen Africa’s voice in global peace and security debates. The election is scheduled for 2026.
