Ghana : Cryptocurrency firms to be licensed by September 2025

Ghana has announced plans to license cryptocurrency firms by September 2025, joining Nigeria and South Africa in formalizing crypto regulation. The Bank of Ghana has issued a Virtual Asset Providers Act to parliament, aimed at consumer protection. The VAP Act will allow Ghana to license crypto platforms, enforce capital, security and anti-fraud safeguards. With over 3 million Ghanaians engaged in crypto, the move is expected to attract investment, boost tax revenue, and enhance regulatory clarity.
