Artificial Intelligence : Google commits $37M to advance AI solutions across Africa

Google announced on July 24, 2025 a comprehensive $37 million initiative to accelerate AI innovation across Africa, targeting key sectors (agriculture, health, and education) through multiple initiatives. The funding includes $7 million for AI education programs in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and Ghana and $3 million for Masakhane’s African language AI development. A flagship project, the AI Collaborative for Food Security will support smallholder farmers with climate resilient solutions. The initiative expands on Google’s existing African AI projects including maternal health technology and wildfire detection systems.
