Ethio Telecom, listed on the Ethiopia Securities Exchange, announced on July 24, 2025 it earned 162 billion Birr (≈1,18 billion USD) in revenue for the 2017 Ethiopian fiscal year, meeting 99% of its target. The company’s CEO, Frehiwot Tamiru, attributed the results to digital expansion, infrastructure growth, and rising mobile usage. Telebirr alone processed 1.66 trillion Birr (≈12.1 billion USD). The customer base reached 83.2 million, confirming Ethio Telecom’s evolving role as a digital economy driver.
